When we came out of the bush we hit the fence between Nellie’s and Burnt Hut, the next paddock, instead of the stockyard. That meant we’d overshot the spur, so my little mistake added about twenty minutes to the trek. I didn’t say anything to anyone, because there was no way they would have known, and why make myself look bad?
Not that she said ‘like a maniac’. It wouldn’t be very tactful for a shrink to say that. The funniest thing was when we were meant to go on these jetboats, near Queenstown somewhere, and we all chickened out. Like, I’m talking major cowardice.
